Checkers - Lite 3.42

The game of checkers involves two opponents positioned on opposite sides of a board, taking turns to make moves. In single-player mode, the player always assumes the blue pieces regardless of who makes the initial move. Pieces are moved diagonally across dark squares, capturing opponent pieces by leaping over them to an unoccupied square. Capture moves are mandatory, and if multiple capture sequences are available, the player may choose any sequence but must execute all captures in that sequence. When a piece reaches the farthest row on the opponent’s side, it is promoted to a king, granting the ability to move backwards.

The application offers three distinct gameplay modes:

• English Draughts – pieces cannot jump backwards, and kings are restricted to moving only one square in any diagonal direction.
• Flying Kings – pieces cannot jump backwards, but kings can move any number of unblocked squares along diagonals (also known as Spanish, Czech, Argentine, Thai, Turkish versions).
• International – pieces can jump backwards, and kings can move unlimited distance along unblocked diagonals (also referred to as Brazilian, Russian shashki, Pool checkers).

Piece movement is initiated by tapping on the desired piece, followed by tapping on the target cell. If only one move is available for the selected piece, it will be executed automatically without an additional tap. Alternatively, users may directly tap on a destination square if it can only be reached by a single piece. Normally, movable squares are colored black; however, squares accessible to the current player are highlighted in dark green. The selected piece is marked with a bright green border. Users can access the menu in the top-right corner to adjust game difficulty, choose different game variants, or view gameplay statistics.
